It all started with a book I was reading for inspiration and to support a type of book that doesn't alway make it to the shelves. This book is a historical fiction inspired by Nezahualcoyotl, a person that existed during prehispanic times in Mexico. This character was a warrior, poet, king, architect, engineer and more. A real renaissance man.
This inspired me to make a sketch during some down time. The YA story drew me toward a style influenced by things "The Prince of Egypt", "Atlantis", and "The Emperor's New Groove".
I figured, "why not put some ink and color on him."
After finishing my "Advanced ZBrush" class (taught by Charles Ellison), I decided that I'd like to see this character in 3D form to visualize what a character like this would look like in a movie by the likes of Dreamworks or Netflix.
