This project started a year ago when I decided to make an entry into my sketchbook during some down time at my side job. I was listening to Mon Laferte's punky, folky, poppy sounds with vocals that could even be described as inky. I wanted to bring this feeling together with aspects of my Mexican heritage into some Inktober art.

I was able to sculpt and model a character in time for the final project in my Look Dev and Grooming Class. I knew the art was very loose and I would have to make creative decisions along the way to being the vision for this character into 3D life.

I wanted to get as close to a sylized look with the leather. I wanted it to look grungy and inky but with some colorful flair.

For the skin and Facepaint, I was able to get a smeared paint look for powdery white and I wanted to give the oily black paint to have what could be the remnants of a paint brush or makeup brush. For the hair, I stared with some curve sweep mesh with rotation and a square profile.

Getting the Xgen tube Groom to work was a chelleng but my Instructor, Jackson Spencer, coached me through it.

I brought the character into Blender for the final pose because I like the quick rig tools better and I like how it turned out. I learned so much from this character and I look forward to making more styles of hair in the future.
